The Question Is

Oh conscience who are you,

so you really tell me right from wrong.

Do you really keep me out of trouble,

are you there when I need you.

Are you a figment of my imagination,

are you real.

Do you sit upon my shoulder,

I really wonder just who you are.

Are you the one that tells me what is wrong and do not do it,

are you the one that tells me what is right and to do it.

Are you my friend or enemy,

why should I listen to you.

Hello Paula … at times we act instinctively and after that our conscience advises us if we were right or wrong - thank you Paula - Lindsay

Dear Paula, I adore your thought-provoking poem. When I was in first grade at my Catholic school, the nun said that our conscience was the angel that sat on our right shoulder - not the devil that sat on our left.. and she said to always look to the right to do right.. and she was right! Your wonderful pen spills enlightening gold, my friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

You know what my friend, I always use the example of Casper the friendly ghost who tells you what is right and Spooky the bad ghost who is always tempting us. Casper on the right and Spooky on the left! Hugs and blessings Paula. Jennifer.
