Notes About The Poem

Does the appearance of the white pumpkin have a similar meaning to that of the white buffalo?

The Pumpkin

A Jack-O-Lantern To make her first pumpkin pie Why a white pumpkin?
____________________________________
The pumpkin hides beneath a prickly vine To protect the goodness, till fully grown Celebrations center at harvest time Strange looks at my table's content at home
Spoken in mime was by biggest surprise When shown all looked, blinked and gasped The first white pumpkin pie, that is so wise What to interpret, a sign from the past?
