The Promise of a Better Life

Some days movement of any kind Is enough to remind me that I am alive. That these emotional thunderstorms in my heart Are so full of ifs and buts and should have been That there is barely room enough for love. How I admire those who have mastered the art of living in the moment. Those who leave their pain behind when the lesson is learned. The waves are getting pretty high today And swimming to the shore is a daunting exercise But I am learning to navigate this fog of illusions that surround me. I think this is my moment I am going to transform myself from one moment to the next Without being drawn into the future or the past again. I have fought and beaten cigarettes alcohol drugs and leaned to live alone Surly I can reprogram my heart For the promise of a better life.

I'm working on some of the same issues, Michael. I'm learning to live in the present and deal with some of my own shortcomings and addictions. Stay positive, dear...

We will be strong together.Just knowing that another knows about your struggle can lift your Spirit and sooth the memories of your heart.I be leave in Einstein's sting theory;Which states everything is connected with a substance he could not name.So he called it string. All of us are connected. This why words have power and love is the strongest. You are beautiful and we will stay strong together.Thalia the transgender woman that is no longer hiding inside of Michael.God bless. Remember we may never meet but we can be strong together

Heartfelt words of hope for more in life than what has been before. Keeping your heart open to all possibilities is the key... I can relate so well to this poem, Michael... Beautifully written!

Sometimes a little bit of light breaks through and what a joy when someone sees it.

Wonderful. How hard it is to be alive in the moment. I often think of things from the past that still bother me, but I am getting better at dismissing these thoughts as useless and foolish. The happier I am, the less of this I have. So it is kind of an emotional barometer. Good luck to you. We know there are always setbacks here and there. Sometimes major ones! The style you are using with space in the middle is touching. It makes me think of a void.

I really like this, Michael. The trick is not to forget, but to learn. The heart never forgets a loving touch. Great write. Love the conviction!
