The Professional

Morning comes and I put on my armor
A suit and a smile
Fraudulent to say the least
Standing amongst others
Making small talk about the weather
And my deceitful appearance
A cup of coffee and feigned interest
As I think to myself
They don’t even know who I am
And some day I will leave this place
I will find the river and the trees
That elusive place that appears in my dreams
A million miles away from their shallow souls
Solitude in all its beauty will engulf me
I will be free
