The Pride of Summer Comes Before the Fall
The Fall is a time of deep reflection,
one for a yearly self introspection.
When we see the trees change their attire,
from the shades of green to autumn fire.
Each year we grow a little bit older,
as the world becomes a little colder.
To know we have come closer to our death,
when a sigh is changed to a frosty breath.
The pride of summer comes before the fall,
when the lighter threads turn to woolen shawl.
All of creation must accept this fate,
and all must prepare when the time is late.
Then warm in our beds we'll drift off to sleep,
and a god that cares our spirit will keep!
