The Porch
The Porch
If someone opens their door for you, and they invite you in
They would understand if you choose to stay on the porch
But when you walk on by, with hardly a smile
It’s hard to know why you walk in the rain
When they see you each day, and you often seem sad
You’re so sure of yourself, but not quite complete
You think what you need, is what you’re looking to find
But life is too short, for what is now late
Remember the door that was opened for you
Remember the one who has invited you in
Maybe there’s more than what meets your eye
Even if only…. to get warm and dry
If you knock on my door, I will answer for you
I will give you my coat and we’ll talk on the porch
I hope that you’ll stay and find shelter from rain
I hope that you see me
And let me in
But, if you walk on by, with no hint of a smile
I know, that I will be sad
I gave it a try, but it seems like goodbye
As you fade away….
In the rain
