Notes About The Poem

The Poet

You have read that one poem
Over morning coffee luke warm
Then there was another
You read that one too
I flaunted yet another in the cold
Three in one day
Seeking approval
Or at least my words to have sway
Yet
Like a dying a flower
Wilted
Wrinkled from the inside out
Floundering between reality and disillusions
The crashing of the empty wine bottle on the floor
Like the church bells in the village
Announcing the words that seek to run away

For many have read the poems
As I have opened the garden gate
My torment though marches on
For I now know deep deep down in the depth
Not a soul
Has yet to read
The poet

The graveyard is not so deep

When poets truly share heart, soul and do so to give it reads in their poetry and the reader is doubly blessed IMHO. YOU DO SO AND IT SHINES MY FRIEND. I myself know severaL dozen other poets here that write that way too. Likely many more here but I have not the time to read and discover them all. Keep on inking, as a poet its what you do--and do so well.

First, Congratulations on POTD. I think most poets would like to know that someone reads what they write. It's like picking a bouquet of flowers, you simply can't pick them all. Love the write Arthur, peace my friend:)

Might as well be mumbling in silence without being read into birth. Poetry must be shared to exist. To the point, your work gives life to itself as POTD, congratulations where's my cigar...

Yes, I often think the same, and am just as guilty, so when I have time, every now and then, I try and read some of a poets older poems! Why I dont even look at my own older ones! :) On a positive note that is because there are so many new beautiful ones to read!!! Hugs!

I guess people need to read in between the lines of poetry to feel the person who is sharing his world through guise of words, great write Arthur and as Jan said I think we can all relate to it in one form or another.

Thanks Brian, you have described this well. I think also for some, its about those few readers or persons you wish validation from, those close to you.
