The Podium

I stand on the podium, with a trembling heart
Looking towards, a big sum of audience.
Their eyes are like, stars in the sky
Twinkling clearly and raising my pressure.

They seems before me, as devils in their chairs
Waiting to tear my heart, apart.
Hundreds and hundreds of eyes, I saw
Without a drop of, kindness in them.

Then I remember, the famous words,
None but the brave deserves the fair,
The sign of life is strength and growth,
The sign of death is weakness, it says.

I kept my doubts, a distance away
And delivered the lecture, without any fear.
There saw the devils, standing like angels,
Clapping and clapping, for ever and ever.

Jenish, being very introverted, I find myself stifled by large groups of people. I'm not sure I could make it through what you have described so wonderfully her.

Nice imagery on this relatable topic. I've heard it said that people fear public speaking more than death.

Being the center of attention has never been my choice place, but when left to speak all is gone.. an empty seat in my inside my head. I does take courage and when an audience is captivated then your the Star. love the write.

Excellent first up piece. A poem we can all relate to, that has been well penned, and just the right length for this kind of poem. Glad you chose the soup. Kind regards David in NZ
