The piper is paid

When all is said and done,
And the piper is paid
What a relief it will be
The end of this 38 year game that was
played

To get out of darkness, to find the light
A new future begins, happiness in sight
But to get to that stage alot must be done
To say I'm the victor, the battle i won

Many will say don't live in the past
But the damage done will forever last
I didn't see it before, but I sure as hell do now
It was others that put me under this cloud

Every day I'm getting stronger
But my mind plays tricks, a form of self torture
Pick my self up, dust myself off
A new me is born, but at what cost?

I'm planning the show down, her verses me
I'm going to record it for the world to see
My words won't hurt her, embarrassment might
All these wrongs i have to make right

But the person she is means i have to plan
But I need to be stronger before I can
For what needs to be said makes it certain
Our relationship done, the final curtain

I love her too much to say goodbye
She still has a hold on me that I cant defy
Maybe I will stay silent, let her win
Or maybe I need to have thicker skin

Before that day I need to mend and heal
Take back what is mine, all that she stealed
I cannot hate her try as I might
She's my mother, but it doesn't mean she's right

When all is said and done and the piper is paid
The battle is won and the dragon slayed
What little remains will break my heart
But it needs to be done, I need a fresh start
