The Perfect Poem and Story

Sometimes the last to know
a heart is its owner; needing
a fresh ear to listen, to nestle,
embrace and navigate—
I think, before the end, every
beat should be accounted for:
the lost and not found, the
never searched weighing heavily
on a aging spirit—at the least,
one should know, thoroughly,
where they have been before
taking on any new journey.
But this is not a perfect world...nor,
somewhat sadly I must admit,
will I ever write the perfect poem
and story….

Each time I write a poem I wonder "will this be the one?" just like every time I paint a painting, and the reply is "not this one" every time, which might be why I am still writing poems and painting canvases.

Could be, Caren. Actually I think we are at our best when creating; happiest, for we are doing the example of our God. Thank you, my friend.

Keep trying my friend. Google Chris Poindexter, you remind me of him. Good job Joe...

Hi Charlie; I did just that, thanks to your suggestion. Very enlightening and wonderfully versed works. I think he is an outstanding poet. Blessings my friend!
