The Pensive Poet
In the sea, I find pieces of me. In the wind, I seek and believe. In the moment, I need to be free. Free of this memory that helps me to breathe.. oh, sweet memories, how can I see… by poet
Soundless jewels sing,
In notes of soulful seclusions
A day, a week – a night
Breathe affection into the past
Moments repeated by dreams,
As faith bleeds, her voice
Satiny as the light, softer still
Than the music, the prayer
Praise that reveals the wind’s caress
In music brought to life by leaves
And limbs who thrive in the gusts of laughing
Intense curves, twisting truths
Lay bare at the feet of a shameful sin
Unburdened by the ache, deep within
I listen to the feelings, repentant
Telling me of a time before I hear the sea
Leaving me to my contemplation
Notions of distant dreams and faith,
Hopeful and hopeless all at once
Full of chaos and bittersweet as the moon
Lost to her thoughts, her ache
As endless as the star’s quiet shimmer
Feelings unleashed by yesterday
And the voice of a moment far too weak to say
Just how amazing was yesterday
And how ordinary is today –
As the last of sleep is wiped from tender eyes
And the foggy memories of yesterday
Lay, healing, on the heart who feels more alive
As the trembling sun rises and the dew grows silent,
In a steady embrace, the face of night
Stills and the memories are measured by faith
As the heavens open up to pour out
Revelations… can we ever see this time we left,
There on the mind, totally alive
Writing poetry to the wind and the sea
Telling the verses to break away from the present
To see beyond the new, the near, to what was
Before wind settled in my spirit
And I breathed music from my pores,
The sweaty tears of silence and stolen kisses
Blended with hope and happiness and everything
The wind prays when it feeds the petals
And restores the leaves to their place on the path
Where hesitant feet crunch out a journey
From yesterday to the beginning
Of this poet’s pensive promise to hear
From the shadows of the past,
The serenity, the stillness, the silence
That reminds me to leave what might have been
And find the song bursting to cry out
Life is as it should be and life is being lived
In this moment, in the here and now
Where your verses refuse to stay… centered
Not in the current page, but in the tender moments
Spent quietly telling my heart what will be
When yesterday catches up to today
And I see that life is as it should be
Life is a place where God has blessed me,
A place where I believe….
The moments have sought me out
To tell me about time that never leaves,
That time is now… and it is with me,
Wherever I am, always reminding me to listen
To the still, small voice of completion
The Pensive Poet is found completing another round
Of laughing silhouettes, still and existing
In the lovely stanzas between yesterday’s adventure
And today’s bittersweet remembrance
What was will again be… if only in this mind,
Where the past takes me to places I once refused to see
That is what happens, when the past catches up with me
And I have a single prayer, to let love forever breathe
In notes or joy, hope and peace… in a voice of grace that believes
What was, what is… all together sing
A song of love that will never end. Oh love will not end.
