The Pathless Path
Religious and spiritual? Both are a pathless path,
and each is compelling, powerful and fascinating;
the way is twining but neither has any wrath,
for me religion and spiritual as sisters captivating.
What I read in the Bible scriptures gives me pause,
when I meditate- oh, I flutter like a bird in my mind;
but, I am open-minded for each has order and laws,
with religion purpose I find- with spiritual I am twined.
In my religious faith I will always be abiding,
though other people may at times try to sway me;
and on my spiritual journey I will ever be gliding,
for my belief in both is strong and that is the key.
Religious ritual has been drummed into me since a child,
and I was taught about mindfulness at an early age;
and all that religious doctrine is in my head filed,
spiritual thought gives me wisdom to look at each page.
I surrender to both for each connect me to God,
and I need both for this pathless path I have chosen;
the truth is every day I see my life and I am awed,
for I am moving forward and never in one place frozen.
