Notes About The Poem

The Past Grows Dreamy

Inside our minds time often flows backward,
To rich sparkling treasures we left behind,
But the memories become somewhat blurred,
In a landscape where purple mists purblind.
There we find old gold, because time is kind
To the woman in the shoe with children,
Fading slow with Alice in Wonderland,
And Humpty Dumpty, from the wall fallen.
And old loves and those we knew beforehand,
Not to mention past sudden joys unplanned!

"Time often flows backward," "purple mists purblind," "we find old gold" - absolutely delightful expressions of memory in technicolor. I am always taken by your use of color. These expressions are especially unique all against the backdrop of favorite nursery rhymes - songs that sing of childhood. Congratulations on your win! So wonderful to see this creative treasure on the winners list. Sending you many blessings!

Evelyn, you've written a lovely heartfelt poem. Things we recall from our childhood, nuries rhymes. Then, as we become older, we begin to lose one of life's most significant assets: our memories. I loved it (Fav) Blessing ~ Debra

How many children learn nursery rhymes today. I think they’ve rewritten them. The line: In a landscape where purple mists purblind.
