The Only Way
God’s laws were there in concrete laid,
but few had not been disobeyed.
The world in lowest depths was mired,
to darkest sin had been hot-wired.
God’s messengers, prophets of old
the dire consequences told.
But man was set in his own way
the stern laws he would not obey.
God knew his children steeped in sin
could not his Kingdom enter in.
He sacrificed his own dear Son
that man’s vile deeds might be undone.
Christ died for us to wipe us clean
from all the wickedness obscene.
God’s forgiveness now ours to receive.
Praise God we're saved if we believe.
Won a number 2 in this contest
(My Lutheran precept. We cannot earn our way. Jesus has taken our sin. All we
need do is to believe in him.)
