The On-Stage Comic
When I’m up on stage at any night.
I have one chance to get it all right.
It’s enough to give anyone fright.
When I am under the hot stage light,
it seems a mountain I am climbing.
It all requires expert timing.
Saying the wrong words at any time
would prove to be not very sublime.
Everything said must leave them laughing.
I must avoid any gaffing.
When they are laughing, they are entertained.
Some more success I have attained.
