The Nightmare

The Nightmare It seems that these days in Mexico, people are living a nightmare. This is because of the CARTELS and other small time criminals that want to get into the act. There is not a day that goes by - that people don't get killed. The people that kill are from the CARTELS, or other organized crimes. A lot of policemen get killed trying to combat the DRUG traficing, and sometimes human traficing too. Still some of them are involved with the CARTELS. Inocent people get killed, including women and children, that have nothing to do with these people. The worst part is - that they have already crossed over to our Country and are commitings their crimes here. It is not that our Country is free of crime, but we don't need any more then what we already have. In this DRUG WAR we all lose. One way or another we all pay. Our only hope is - that people stop using DRUGS, then no one would buy them and the DRUG LORDS would not be able to sell them. Money and power go together and people want to have it. They don't care at what cost. That is the NIGHTMARE that we have and only GOD knows if we will ever wake up...

Spot on Lucilla, it's a very sad and worrying situation, these people are not just killing themselves they kill, eventually, those that use, or at least bring misery to all around them. The only way to end it is to remove the need people have for drugs. Well done writing this poem. Take care, Regards Richard

I was writing a comment on this poem last night and got side-tracked. You speak of a very profound problem and for a profound problem, there must be a profound solution. Great work here my friend. I want to thank you para todos sus comentarios carinosos. Muchas gracias.

This reminds me of the show Breaking Bad... it's a good show, but it really demonstrates how wicked one can become after being bathed in riches and power... and it all started with good intentions too. You are a poet that states facts instead of "dressing things up"... I will be on the look out for your name. Good work!

I came back to see your nightmare poem again. It would more than likely fit a contest if anyone ever did social issues or a contest about drugs.

Lucilla, I almost wonder if taking the restrictions off some of the drugs would not ease it up. I never understood why marijuana was illegal when it is no more dangerous than alcohol, which we allow people to use! I have seen horrific things about those cartels on the border towns, etc. It would be so scary to live there. I really feel for those people. this is a theme worthy of our attention.

Hello Lucy, I hear of many stories that are of terror down in Mexico... the drug cartel goes a long way... if it is not drug trafficking, it's human trafficking. I pray to God, one day it will all stop... and it all starts with us.. and like you said if we stop using drugs,,, life is bound to take a change... an excellent poem...always your friend...LINDA

I know that we have this enormous problem, but alas, I'm afraid that there will always be drug lords and drugs all over the place! We won't be able to stop them, but we must try to limit their ability to sell...but that will only be minimal! This is a tremendous poem speaking of this problem that we face. What a masterful piece you have written here my friend! Great Work!!!
