The Mother Cat

Long Island’s the home,
  Of the mother cat.
Max, Mai Ling, and Gracie,
  Are so proud of that.

They are well received,
  And in from the cold.
In the warmness of love,
  That their mother unfolds.

While out on the streets,
  The hidden dangers stir.
She puts them to sleep,
  With her poetic purrs.

Now to you Raul, is there no end to your kindness? You have captured Rhoda and her huge capacity to love for her kitties especially! So sorry I missed this, as you read before I am swept away in holiday madness. You are a thoughtful angel here! So glad you found our site. Happy holidays once again! Love, shar

Hey mama cat! Sorry, seriously don't know if i am coming or going anymore and completely missed this! Isn't this guy the sweetest always thinking of others? Yours is so well deserved. Your kitties couldn't be luckier than to have you as their mom. So overwhelmed by the holiday gift giving part - beginning to lose the real meaning here. Need to get it together. So grateful for our friendship. Hugs & love always, Shar xoxo

Dear Raul, You have captured the beautiful spirit of our dear Rhoda. The greatest compliment a poet can ever receive is a poem written for them by another poet. This is simply beautiful and I am sure Rhoda will cherish it forever. lainie

I loved this poem what a sweet thing for you to do for Rhoda. I read Rhodas comments and I have to agree that to some their pets are everything to them my mom has seven and she loves them she talks to them and believes she carries on conversations at times I don't know what she would do if she lost one again Raul I love reading your work this is a great poem God bless to you Rhoda and her felines and happy hoildays to all

What a beautiful tribute to Rhoda and her precious friends. Perfect in form and sentiment. Your caring and generous heart at work, soothing the wounds of others. I'm glad you don't think that tattoo is silly. I want to get one for my daughter when I am able to. My family was touched by your kindness too and I wanted to extend their thanks. Love Robin

What a lovely tribute to Rhoda and her cats! The title is perfect, and I really love the phrase "poetic purrs". Thank you so much for your comments on my haiku "Storm-weary". They are very much appreciated! I'll always remember that brave and noble seagull. He truly touched my heart. ~Juliane
