The Monkey Song

There are monkeys on the television
    Making others unaware.
There are monkeys practicing politics
For those about the public square.
There are monkeys teaching ethics
To make worse this sad affair.

There's nothing wrong with monkeys
If utter mayhem be the point.
As monkeys have no rhyme or reason
With no particular direction to anoint.
And despite their best intentions...
They end up just stinkin' up the joint.

My parents are extremely busy monkeys
With various sacred bananas to pursue.
And regarding all my siblings... well...
They are monkeys through and through.
As for that monkey in my looking glass...
    I guess I'm a monkey too.

                The End

Ah monkeys are fun and funny when we see them in the zoo or some friend may have a pet. But in the wild they are totally different. And like people they can be quite dangerous. Great write David. God Bless, JB

Yes. I've heard some real horror stories of people who try to make them into pets... but it's their dual nature that my poem was trying to bring out. Remember... the worst thing a person can hear is 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' There are monkeys everywhere.

My son was a big 'Curious George' fan. Monkeys are fun as long as they stay in the wild. They should never be elected to public office. Have a great day my friend.

G’day David … perhaps we all have monkey DNA if evolution is a fact although some human brains haven’t developed from those times. I wish I could swing through the trees but sadly can’t - nice lyrics indeed - Lindsay

Monkeys have a pretty good rep in our society. They must pay some PR firm a lot of money. I've met a few monkeys who I wish would stay in the trees and not bother the rest of us. Have a great day.

Such a delightful piece of writing, David. Perhaps you are a monkey, but, you are a monkey who can write poetry, and there aren't many of those around!

Thanks Milton. Right back at you. It takes a lot of courage to rise above the crowd. I don't want to be a monkey but maybe I am. Have a great day.
