The Misfit

A girl struggling to fit in;
Not quite sure why she does't.
Every tear of self-doubt you cry
Burns a scar into my mother's heart.
Every time you say you have no friends,
It bleeds for you.

With your friendship you offer your heart.
But life's little prejudices and cruelties
Taught you to be cautious with your feelings.
Throw aside your cautions.
Embrace that world.

For the same tender heart that plagues you now,
Will triumph in the end.
As other's friendship come and depart,
Yours will be as Venus in the midnight sky:
Forever true; Forever bright.

The title called to me. This brings me back to the child I was and who I blossomed into. I had trouble making friends for so long. The ones I did were forever friends though. When I was sixteen the things that made me strange, red hair, made me beautiful to others and I made friends a lot easier. As a loyal friend it's hard to keep an open heart when so many people are fake but this captures it so beautifully

It's truly touching. Even the part about scars. I was a cutter. I'm fighting it still because of ptsd. But it really spoke to me and that is just purely sweet

I think kids are afraid of things that are different, and yes, it's always ironic to be admired for the very thing they shunned you for before. I had a group of four close friends, and we've been through a lot so even not seeing each other for a while, we can just pick it all back up, which is nice. This one was for my oldest who also has the softest heart.

- Children who miss friends .... when children being teasing, really hurts my heart - But, we as adults must do something about our own children - teach them friendship and love - A wonderful poem, Janet - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

It is really hard to explain to children. Young children have no prejudice. They learn it from those who should know better. But fostering basic kindness zis always important. Thank for reading Anne Lise.

It's hard to see beyond the tears. When life keeps feeding all your fears. And hope is just a fading word. That each time is heard, sounds more absurd.
