The Man In the Middle

Three wooden crosses stood on the hill that day.
Two held thieves who deserved the price they'd pay.

The man in the middle was innocent of all,
It was for sinful man he was taking the fall.

The jeering of passersby rang through the air.
Women were weeping, overcome with despair.

The man in the middle cried out with last breath,
"It is finished", as he surrendered to death.

The ground started quaking violently then,
And darkness descended, not letting light in.

God's righteous anger over sin was unleashed,
On the man in the middle who was now deceased.

Three wooden crosses stood on Calvary's hill.
The man in the middle was silent and still.

BUT... Sunday was coming!

Well penned courageous witness from a heart full of faith. Jesus is alive and our sins are still making Him bleed.

Your poetic tale of the anguish of Good Friday, and the coming joy of the first Easter, is beautifully wrought, Kim. :)

A monumental day for the two who joined him...representatives of sin. Oh to know the one who saves was very brave. One joined him at His heavenly home. The other kicking himself for his wrong choice.

Hi Kim, When I read your first line I instantly thought of “ Three Wooden Croses by Randy Travis. As I continued to read, I thought of much more. As Jesus said, “ It's finished, three days later he rose again. Excellent write and so fitting for Easter. Have a wonderful evening and Happy Easter:-) Alexis
