The lunacy of language

The words still come Gather Vying for attention Silently shouting Choose me, choose me I am the subtle variation The thoughtful import You seek NO…choose me I am the hook That will reel them in Heads shaking To dislodge A newly imbedded Thought Others think He’ll never choose us We are too simple, too plain Alliterative aliens Seeking a blank verse savor Others smirk Thinking…. He wouldn’t dare use me My double entendre Would boggle the minds Of the one-dimensional reader Languishing In the lunacy Of language

Great poem, John. You're lucky the words gather around you. They are always hiding or running away from me. Maybe afraid of abuse.

Careful. The loonies may be coming for us sooner than we think!

John, this is the third, (at least) from you in which you use oxymorons to poetic advantage. "Languishing in the lunacy of language," how distinctly succinct is that phrase? There's a 10 written on my score card for this one.
