The Lovers Walk

~The lovers walk~

As we walked upon the sand,
Ambling along hand in hand.
We talked of life and other things,
Of a lovers kiss and golden rings.

I looked into her pretty eyes,
And found to my great surprise.
A tear was sliding down her cheek,
I was not sure if I should speak,

Gathering courage I said out loud,
Look over there I can see a cloud.
It looks just like your lovely face
But lack’s your kind elegant grace.

She raised her eyes up to the sky,
And then began to really cry.
I pulled her hand up to my lips,
Thus with her pain to come to grips

I asked her in a gentle tone,
If our walk we should postpone.
Between her sobs she answered thus,
It was our love she would discuss.

“I love you dearly she said to me,
Yet I fear our love cannot be.”
“For like the cloud that drifts away,
I do not think that you will stay.”

“I would I had wings to set me free,
From the chains you cannot see.”
“My heart yearns for passions release,
But it is bound with no surcease.”

“I’m tied by bonds love cannot break,
My needs denied for families sake.”
“Expectations that I must meet,
Leaving my life so incomplete.”

“Boundaries set I cannot cross,
Are you willing to bear the loss.”
“For you there will only be great pain,
No rainbow will shine after the rain.”

Gently wiping away her tears,
I spoke quietly about her fears.
“I love you more than words can say,
With a love that grows day by day.”

“I will bear everything I must,
In my love you can always trust.”
“Soul mates are we in this I am sure,
No matter what, my love shall endure.”

We looked deeply into each other's eyes,
And we knew there would never be goodbyes.

A gentle and kind spirited write, Shane. A beautifully composed piece, Bonds should always be honoured, I'm proud to know you! This depicts common sense as a virtue of strength, will, and determination. There are always rainbows, leprechauns don't own them! Thanks for being such a remarkable friend. With love, Mikki

Dear friend, I do not always succeed but I write what I feel, I believe that some people are bound together mind body and soul. That is true love. It is so profound as to be inconhribensible to most of us, it is what poets chase to describe. Love Shane xxx
