The Love Letter

On ink filled parchment, I wrote my love to you. I stained it with my heart, And wrote nothing untrue. I took my feather quill, And dipped it in the inkwell. I filled the page with ardor, As my concern began to swell. My passion filled the page, Sweet scribbles of my fondness. My desires written to be known, To you my heart is confessed. I kissed the folded letter, And sealed it with my love. I placed it in the post, Waiting for a reply thereof. It’s been a couple of weeks, And still no word at all. I hope the letter reached you, And that you could read my scrawl. I wrote you a love letter, And let my passion flow. For my heart’s request, I wanted you to know. I wrote it in a hurry, I filled it with my heart’s most. But I’m still checking daily, For your reply in the post.

Nice outpour of the heart on this one. You can caress the page with a pen and write beautiful poems. I envy and I shouldn't. DN

Raul, If the note you sent your loved one is anything like the sentiments you express in this beautiful tribute, I feel sure you will hear from her. I'm so glad I found poetrysoup because it has put me in touch with talented artists such as you. Forgive me for not including my comments on your poem in the last email. I'm not feeling well today; I just learned my sister is very sick. Carolyn

Raul, And thanks for sharing your sentiments on "Hungry and Homeless Americans." I think the economy has all of us frightened right now, and we can only pray the stimulus package works some magic. Unfortunately, it will take time. Love, Carolyn

Ahhh true love on parchment...a lasting testimony of and old fashioned kind of love, that was so tender, and heartbreaking. If only we could go back to when people poured their hearts in script...(instead of phones, e-mail, texting) so much more romantic. How can she not respond to something so beautiful!? ~ Carrie
