The Lost Traveler
She took the road less traveled by, because she thought it was the right thing to do
She thought that maybe, she would be sought out in light of her nobility
Although she never asked by what or whom
She just believed that taking this road would've led her to what she sought for most
Instead, it was a quiet road; a road of forgotten dreams and whispers of failed manifestations
A road paved with good intentions--a cliche never fit so well
No light to hope for at the end...just a dark, infinite path
Littered with the sounds of hellhounds and cries of fallen angels; she continued to carry her broken halo
“Take the road less traveled by,” she mocked. “Take the road less traveled by!”, she screamed
Her echoes surrounded her, shaking the wood off of the decaying trees
Pieces disintegrate, dancing in the air like ash
The weight of her choices were accompanied with the snickering of those who convinced her that this road was one of righteousness
“Don't stoop to their level,” they whispered
“You're better than them, be the bigger person”
“No! I didn't want this. I just wanted to be good… I just wanted to do right..
I didn't know it was going to cost me myself
I didn't know they were telling me lies”
All of these thoughts… all of this noise… all of this… weight
She couldn't breathe
She couldn't handle the self affliction
She couldn't handle the voices that echoed in her mind
She was lost, and buried on this road less traveled
