The Longing Soul

The Longing Soul

The moment has arrived
And the night has passed, yet the feelings remain
The sunshine and the clouds dance in the sky
As the wind calls to the longing soul…

Here is the place of yielding
Tranquility has its say in the matter
Life is the mother of Hope
As the earth bears witness to the longing soul…

Where am I now?
Where have I been?
Has nothing to do with where I am going
Except I grant it access to the longing soul…

Together is more powerful than alone
If alone is in need of substance and hope
So much love exist; abounding in faith and trust
I must invite it into my longing soul…

The smoke has my eyes tearful
The music has my dreams anxious
The plant kingdom has power to change life
It cannot commune with my longing soul…

“Step forward”, Hope says
You are not what you’ve done
Cause your longing to give birth and live
Yes, it’s possible for my longing soul…

Chance and change are vying for a seat
At the table of the heart
Yet, so much peace rests at the altar
The destiny is Recovery for my longing soul…

I will, because, I can
So my mind capitulates when considering the past
Falling to the earth and surrendering to His will
Finally there is rest for my longing soul!

Come, come quickly
For I know not how to relinquish the power
Teach me oh Author of Life how to govern
The desires and regrets of my longing soul…

Here I will fight, here I will win
Far too much weighted in the balance to quit
Too far have I come to give up
So God becomes the longing for my longing soul!

I like the imagery you used. "Finally there is rest for my longing soul" seems to resonate with me. Maybe there is some rest for those weary and burdened. Lovely poem!
