The Lonely Bible

There's a Bible on a table in the corner Looking forlorn and in great despair. A neglected lonely Bible, Full of dust and showing a lack of wear. Where is the reader? Isn't anyone going to spread the word? About all of the crime and corruption Running rampant in our land, America is losing the heritage That made our country great, We use to put our trust in God, Now the evil one is taking his place, May all Christians come together To bring God back into our land, And may our leaders do their best To make our country grand, Let's have a revival in believing in God's word, Respecting the rights of others And being a part of the good Shepard's herd.

Don, I have been reading your poems this afternoon and being Blessed by them time after time. I truly love your I Am Old Glory because it reminds me of a poem I wrote entitled Our Flag. It is included in the book of poems I recently published. I also read with interest the one about the Lonely Bible. All too often, God's Word is left on the coffee table but never read --- just collecting dust. We certainly do need God and Old Glory back in America. Thanks for sharing such great poems.

Thank you for liking my poem, I am sorry it took me so long to answer your comment. There are times when we get wrapped up in daily life. This poem came from my heart We need to bring God back in America.
