The Lone Coyote Calls

The Lone Coyote Calls

Hearing the call of the lone coyote on hot desert night
hot breeze effecting everything in it's swirling path
Eagle sailing lonely across still melting blue skies
gophers scurrying in and out of tight little holes
Sun resting it's shining authority over desolate land
every creature hot and battling in a survival fight
Rolling over in my steaming hot little tent
wondering where the hell that damn coyote went!

LOL I wasn't expecting the last line!!! I was at this majestic scene: Camera zooms out on a huge moon and a coyote could be heard, the camera then zooms out - a cactus and other desert-dwellers in the periphery and the scene switches to ranger at dusk about to sleep in his tent and suddenly a dialogue that drove me nuts. HAHAHA

Dear Robert, I was captivated by your description of the desert at twilight. My favorite image was "Eagle sailing lonely across still melting blue skies." I was so into the mood of the poem that I was not expecting the last line. Awesome! Beautifully written with a bit of clever humor at the end. Peace and blessings, Carolyn
