The Light Within

I will never get to tell you all I want to, The things, unsaid, that I still have to say… You’re gone, as only fire and ash can make you, And I feel sometimes, unsure, afraid to pray… Though there never is a time when you can’t hear me, Though your Beauty never fades, not by a day, Through the trees, the endless wind is ever blowing Though I follow it, I still can’t find my way. There is never a reprise of love and living, For we pass this way but once, and then the clay We are made of, falls to pieces… And the fragments Dry and crumble, turn to sand and blow away. You’re a light, within now, and, although I heed you, Though You show my narrow way along the trail, And You tremble lightly, when I’m thinking of You, Still, I want to be your Light, that never fails. 3/18/2019 FOR LAURIE
