Notes About The Poem

The Letter A

“A”
Red is the colour of what I see Red is the colour of Life Red is the blood drawn by your Knife “A” is the Letter of cuts deep and wide Red are the pages turning dreams silent wind chimes Red is the dignity from tongue sharp fountain tip rhymes Red is the hole left gaping blood dripping wet “A” is the Ending torn pages ripped Red is the apple the Rat brought forth Red is the lesson no chalkboard Red is the Heart beating time “A” is the Letter yours not mine. "S" is for Serpent hiding in the leaves "S" is for secrets hidden up sleeves (Lovejoy-Burton/2018, 19th Feb)

I've heard many a woman call a man an ass, but never so poetically with imagery befitting the title of ass. One is born every 3.5 minutes, I'm pretty sure (female asses also) and each should be handed this for their baby book. You drew me in and I'm happy to leave unscathed. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

True Cay Cay. Some of them are still reading baby books...some of them are possibly the monsters lurking in children's stories.

Most eloquent. I'd hate to be that lowlife "A" right now. Superbly done, Leanne.

I had never heard about that singer before.. Life is full of snakes, broken promises and forgotten dreams.. Must be careful from whom we receive an apple..
