Notes About The Poem

The Letter

Written: September 30, 2023 ____________________________________________________________ Incipient of dusk, with heavy eyes shutting. My spirit dies with each day of leisurely cutting. Folding oneself in a featly state of reminiscence. I recall when love meant a loss of innocence. In the depths of time, I recall a letter you wrote. With words that touched my soul, every note In ink stained with passion, emotions blaze. A testament to passion in an ethereal maze As the curtain opens today and casts Sets blur in mists of fallen drops, amort contrast, Vivid hues of happiness are now washed away. Leaving only shadows of what used to sway. The inability to forget your final farewell My heart harbors words: Infinity to dwell.

Such an engaging romantic write yet it has a somberness like a blues song. Love it.

"Vivid hues of happiness are now washed away. Leaving only shadows of what used to sway." A lovely sonnet waxing in the memories of a love that has waned. The sad tone, indeed tugs at the heart strings. You are a master of all forms of poetry and you have the right words at your sleeve. When imagination also comes to your aid, phenomenal poems are born. Rejoice dear friend!

I have always been in awe of Sonnet as a form of poetry.. Majestic as it is, you added your own touch of magic and splendour! Every line takes a breath! Each event and message capture the heart and drop into it a nostalgic pain.. How sublime and heartfelt is your Sonnet, dear Lasaad! An immense pleasure to read! God bless you. Best regards.

Sad one at the end with the farewell. I now wonder is the departure one of choice or one of death. Creative lines penned in this one. Thanks for sharing this work and for dropping by my page. Sara

Excellent sonnet dear Sotto... Deep and emotive.. I can feel the pain in your words.. A sonnet must be really easy for you, because you rhyme and flow so well.. Heart breaking ending, some goodbyes are so painful and we can never forget.. Always a joy to read despite the nature of your poem.. All the best on this Sunday.

This is a very evocative and deeply moving write. So many lines stood out for me . Such brilliant diction and rhymes in your sonnet, and the emotions that flow within your lines truly is impeccable! I thought of my beloveds love letters, and how they touch my soul. I especially love the lines “ vivid hues of happiness are now washed away” the angst uve depicted there, “ leaving only shadows” hits home! Some farewells are hard to forget, and one lives reminiscing, i love those alliterations!
