The Leaves Are Gone
Autumn is taking its last breath
But the leaves are all raked and gone
The bareness reminds me of death
As autumn is taking its last breath,
Cold winds blowing in, I am bereft
No cheer, [well] my account’s overdrawn,
Autumn is taking its last breath
But the leaves are all raked and gone.
The bareness reminds me of death
Cold winds blowing in, I am bereft
As autumn is taking its last breath,
But, the leaves are all raked and gone
No cheer, [well] my account's overdrawn,
But at least I can see my front lawn!

[this is a trionet, a form I invented
to combine the triolet and the sonnet.
