The Leaves Are Gone

Autumn is taking its last breath But the leaves are all raked and gone The bareness reminds me of death As autumn is taking its last breath, Cold winds blowing in, I am bereft No cheer, [well] my account’s overdrawn, Autumn is taking its last breath But the leaves are all raked and gone. The bareness reminds me of death Cold winds blowing in, I am bereft As autumn is taking its last breath, But, the leaves are all raked and gone No cheer, [well] my account's overdrawn, But at least I can see my front lawn!

Winter's arrival confirmed, and the cycle of life churns. At least you have a semi-desert looking lawn! Enjoyed it Milt!...ab

Nice Triolet, Milt. Congrats on the form. Nice mixture with a sonnet. Good imagery and description in this end of autumn poem. Bill

I use it when I write a triolet and am just not quite satisfied with it. It basically gives me six lines and a fresh, new line to end with.

What an intriguing form, and your emotions are shared by many. Congrats on your invented form, Milt.

Thank you, Jenna. It wasn't really so complex. I would write a triolet and then feel like it wasn't quite complete. I found this little addition helped me bring them to a conclusion. It was sort of surprising that Poetry Soup recognized it as a New Type of Poetry.
