The Late Appearance of Mercury

Golden eyed demon dances in my dreams
He awaits my return to his world, his smile sickens me
He calls himself Wrathe,
He says he can help me..in the matters at hand
I slowly approach him as he stands before me
And he reaches out to touch my face
I am filled with the Divine Knowledge momentarily
Until he pulls his hands away
Then I am left empty, hollow
Sorrowful of what I could have known
'I'll put it back,' he says
'Just give it time, you will never fully understand
Until you have just slightly lost your mind'
I understand, I really do
He tells me my imperfections don't bother him any
Why would he care, when its all he has ever seen?
But it is different with me
'You aren't broken' he tells me
'You are shattered beyond repair'
He sees my reaction as the tears well and I just stare
Then he puts his hands on my face again and tells me this
'The fun thing about being shattered
Is that not all of the pieces fit where they used to.
And you can make something new of them.
You have so many pieces.
Therefore, I suppose we can make all kinds of different shapes.'
He smiles in my face
Then I awake

Kearra: I was aware of your intention to imply association with Mercury (the god); I just thought it interesting that some of the characteristics mentioned in your poem might also be interpreted as having much in common with the behavior of the metal. Thanks for replying....I did enjoy the poem!

An interesting piece, evocative of the behavior of the liquid metal, tied into similarities with a human psyche in a dream-like state....I enjoyed reading this.

I thank you for your in-put. However, rather than the metal, think more along the lines of the God. I mention him in many of my other works if you look close enough. Have a great day :)
