THE LAST BEE IN TEXAS

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
she remembers the hum~ a gold-threaded hymn stitching the clover, the way her sisters wore sunlight like dresses, their bodies tiny looms woven with purpose. Now, her wings whisper against the silence, a dialect of dust. No queen to serve, no hive to heat with the labor of her legs. Only the ghost of a thousand blooms tightening in her throat~ sweetness undelivered, a contract broken by the vanishing. she circles the empty field like a comma searching for its sentence, her shadow the last word left.
"she circles the empty field like a comma " These lines create a lot of concern. Sad that bees are slowly diminishing. Our eco system will be in great danger with the disappearance of bees. Beautifully composed using powerful images.
Well, sting me once... And now that the professors hand out 'A's' like candy in college, little wonder there are no 'B's' left.
Hi Sara, preserving the earth’s precious bee population/hives is a must. They are a sacred part of nature and vital pollinators, it is our duty to save them. Thank you so very much for penning this beauteous message nature poem. Blessings of the Christmas season to you & Bill.
