The Last The last one... of anything does not automatically make it better, or worse... only that it is the last. The best for last, is often spoken among the old. Dessert is saved until the end. Yet, new things... first dog, first cat, first day of school. First kiss... How about that? First taste of chocolate, the first night of married life. First child, and last child... too. Last is a bittersweet reward. Last time you see your best friend... Last day of school, ever. The empty bag, the chocolate came in. The final kiss goodbye to someone you love. Life is full, from first to last... Don't waste even one moment, one breath... or it will already be past.

Hi Ann, I really like your style of writing. The simplicity of words, the commonality of themes and the spiritual message you offer your readers.

I agree, Ann ... one day at a time, and live it fully. It's the only way to live your life as designed by our Creator. I enjoy your thoughts shared though your poetry, my friend. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

Hi Ann--just now getting around to returning to poetry soup and found this lovely, well-penned poem. It made me remember my mother's words: "Endings are just beginnings in disguise. Don't lament over endings; embrace them." You're a gifted poem; I'm glad we crossed paths, Sara Etgen-Baker

Yes the first and last both have significance, firsts usually are exciting, lasts are usually sad. This is an inspiring wonderful poem, unique and fun to read. Kudos!! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>*>>>>>>>>>>*********** Plz also read and comment my newest poem too

Much food for thought here, Ann. The first ones now will later be last...
