The Jews

Years ago, my aunt developed mesothelioma. She and her husband did not have money for medical care. It was a Jewish hospital that took her in, and helped her through her last days free of charge. The Jews have built many hospitals, made contributions to many charities, and established many foundations. The list is endless. Jews have been instrumental in government and finance. They have served in our American armed forces from recruits to high level generals and admirals. I have never seen a Jew burn an American flag. I have never heard of a Jew cry out for his God while assaulting a woman. Jews take their God seriously, and are respectful In prayer. Jews are good pet owners. Many Jews own cats and/or dogs. Jews recognize dogs as one of God's gifts to all of us. Jews endure a lot of hate and bullying, yet they stay strong.

Unfortunately, Jews began a persecution against Christians. Time, however, changed them, and I feel no one should be a racist.

Both Christians and Jews were culturally far apart in the beginning. Christians could have offered an olive branch since the Jews were immigrants. In America, the Jews have contributed much.

Automatic Fav. And I do not how they can stand living in Israel now. Constantly running to bomb shelters. Survivind the heinous murders of children. Not all Jews are religious, by the way. I do agree with your thoughts about Jews, Hilda. They are very intelligent with rock like determination and spirit of resilience. Never in history has been a race so much tortured and mutilated. Ousted from their country and people, they were scattered to different parts of the world. Now they have an identity and land and they fight back all those threatening them and hindering their amazing progress. A great write, dear Hilda.

There is no question that Jews have blessed many with their kindness, generosity, and philanthropy, and I agree that they had to respond to Oct 7 attacks, but killing so many innocent civilians is not right

This poem isn't about Israel. I was writing about American Jews who are taking the brunt of punishment here in their own country. Why are they being denied entrance to college by Palistinians? There is a lot of water between America and the middle east. But it is terrible when innocents on any side or in any place are killed.

Of curse, the genocide on Oct 7 Last year is meaningless to mant, 1, 200 killed in their homes or died in tunnels. There is p,enty of hatred of Jews here. 251 people butchered at the Nova Music festival. But watch your replies, you will see the antisemitism disguised as “ caringl”. One of the reasons is that they are very well educated and they make money in the world. They don’t sit around and ask for cash, food or sympathy. Despite 10million who died in the camps. I have not really met one. I grew up where I only knew one black girl and a few hispanics. Every race has its very good people, and I know during WW2 that many unfortunate were killed. I remember how spiritual they were as depicted in movies and books such as Diary of Anne Frank. I do not understand the hostility toward them right now. Just horrible.

Andrea,,get to see Schindler’s List. If one of my favorite movies and tells what life looks like in the camps. A very emotional movie and wonders how you could survive in the concentration camp.. there were also priest and nun in the council camp and Polish people. I can’t remember, but that’s what I recalls so far.. schindler’s List is on TV now and then. Pangie. Much harder hitting than the diary of Anne Frank.. have a nice weekend

Your love for jews is so heart warming to read. I wish for a world that would spread love and kindness like how you just did here and see the good in others , despite differences in religious views etc. whichever religion, i am against extremism and violence. I will add a little context to this, the Jews after world War 2 where not well accepted in North America, the continuation of anti Semitism by the Europeans.To give an example, In Canada, Jews could not become doctors, could not join social clubs, in some provinces not own land ( not so different than women as well ironically) In Montreal the Jewish General Hospital was formed for this reason, to allow Jewish doctors to practice. They also formed their own social clubs and golf courses even.

You haven't mentioned Hamas. Why not? Do the hostages not count? They are innocent. And babies killed by Hamas? You can't have it just one way. America has had Jews before the Revolution. I think one signed the Declaration of Independence- not sure.

(cont) Now fast forward and you have Israel doing to Palestinians, what Europeans did to the Jews, very sad, I might add, this is Zionism, of which many Jews oppose. To think 2 days ago, Israel bombed tents in a hospital to burn patients alive on purpose. When we will learn humanity is above all races and religions!

I was glad to write about goodness in the world. I've been overwhelmed lately by all of the negativity. Thank you for recognizing my poem.
