"FIRST PLACE"
I have been on a long journey . . . all of my life . . . . a journey inward I have lived chapters, closed chapters to begin again and felt life's sharp dagger too many times known deep grief over and over felt alone in the world . . . ~ my father taught me many things before death took him he was a man of quotes . . . . I understand now, dad he took me into nature~ showed me the birds and trees I have a memory of me and my dad feeding ducks at a quiet pond ~ my mother was my mom first and my best friend I am the person that I am because of her and her unwavering love she taught me about flower gardening . . . I grew up with a huge garden tried to teach me how to cook but I was hopeless (have all her cookbooks now) her death shattered me . . . . at her funeral I heard her "I made you strong daughter" ~ grandma is the reason that I am a writer she encouraged me, "write it, write it for the world to read" I did grandma . . . . rest in peace sweet soul ~ my true love was my world I loved him so much and when he died I was broken for a long time . . . maybe I still am we had lost our new born baby boy just before and I knew that he was slipping away from me stayed with him till his last breath . . . . kissed his cold lips traced his perfect face with tears falling but I found the fire within me of me to go on I will visit his tomb in sun, rain, and snow for all of my earthly days . . . . even if just in my mind ~ in childhood I watched my sister die on the street her blood soaking the white snow . . . my mother's screaming will echo forever death stroked my hair and whispered to me . . . . and has stayed near . . . . that has taught me to live my best life in the moments for my tomorrow may not come ~
