Notes About The Poem

The Introverted Mood of Night

I sat in languid candle light
as water poured outside
and lightning flashed, defied
the introverted mood of night.

From flash to flash my roaming mind
the realms of love traversed;
my thoughts like bubbles burst
pinched in the bud, left undefined.

Yet effervescence would not cease
I knew that up till dawn
the need for you would spawn –
A constant tease without release.

Each image brought a burning ache.
The yearning would not sleep
but thundered in the deep.
My body trembled in its wake.

Remembered touches of your hand
tormenting naked skin
the veil between us thin
your pilgrim lips on sacred land.

In endless night, your presence near
yet never truly there.
My heart you did not spare.
Without your love, my life so drear.

An unusual beat but beat none the less. the wording makes the value come out. My favorite phrase "bubbles burst". Hard to tell who wrote who but you both kept the rules. I'm no longer scared to ask someone for a collaberation. Seeing the talent you display, I'll get you on FB then you'll know The Situation.

Dont want to tell you what I picture. I'll leave that to other women. But it's a well known tradition; "I like to leave them satisfied!" but that was probably his attitude too.

Eileen, I love this collaboration of two amazing poets joining their talents. The passion is ardent, the rhymes are perfect, the cadence is unexpected and excellent. "The introverted mood of night" and "remembered touches of your hand" are two favorites among many memorable lines. I trust all is well with you. Blessings ~ John

Paul and I write well together. I'm honored that he would write with me. He is such a talented poet. I feel like I've lost my touch, but I'm trying to get back into the game. :)

Thanks, Tom. I'm alright now. I got Omicron just after Christmas, but I'm doing well now. Hope all is well with you. I enjoy collaborating with Paul. This poem was months in the coming, but Paul was patient. It's my priveledge to write with him though the theme is a sad one. :)
