I wrote this poem for a contest about Iced tea on another poetry site. I thought it was a light, fun poem and wanted to share.
Early this morning it was warm and bright
Song birds sweetly singing in the sunlight
I was out in my garden as I started to prune
Weeding, knowing flowers will be sprouting soon
The morning was soon afternoon and turned hot
I looked for my drink, I thought I brought, guess not
Feeling tired, parched it was time for a needed break
My legs are now burning my back is starting to ache
I holler to my hubby to bring me a cold drink
As I sit in my lawn chair, too tired to think
He brings me a tall, fancy glass of iced tea
I take a large sip, wow, it tastes so heavenly
It is refreshingly rich, it must be the Canadian brew
Hubby said he couldn’t wait to brew something new
I hollered to my hubby, don’t mean to be any trouble
But please bring me a refill and please make it a double
