The House Shines
"Can you feel the soul of an abandoned house;
can you hear the whispering? "
Quote by _Constance La France
My ancestral house I abandoned a long time ago,
still flashes with longing in my memory screen,
I follow one spring on the trail of nostalgia,
and retrace the time track to feel its dormant soul.
Opening the creaking rusty gate I go inside,
walk across the yard entangled now by creepers,
enter the dusty living room deserted for ages,
the wooden stairs winding upstairs beckon me.
I climb up to the sprawling empty master bedroom,
through its cleaved roof leak the streaks of sun rays.
On the defaced wall hangs a portrait of my father,
donning still the frail rosette my mother once placed.
I open the squeaking window on the backyard,
once a blooming garden now a fragment of wasteland.
I hear the wind whisper the song of my youth,
at sunset I see the house shine with golden glow as ever.
