The Hourglass

The Hourglass Julie Ann Saavedra 1-04-2010 We think we have forever, As the seasons ebb and flow, The sand in the hourglass empties, We watch our children grow. We believe we have another day, We have time to spare The sand is slowly shifting, We feel it in the air, The hands are slowly moving, The silent burning drum, That echoes in our consciousness, That hints of days to come, We have time to say a prayer, A candle’s muted light, Time for friends and family, To hold each other tight To feel the heat and let it burn, To fight against the night, To keep the candle burning, Move closer towards the light, When the night falls cold, As is our fate, Once the light is dimmed and snuffed, We will never have another chance It is forever late.
