The hearts enemy

Love is that funny thing.
it tickles our heart dumb
kicks our feet sideways
bumps our head
twists our tongue
pulls our nose
puts the fear into our hands.
It makes us turn left
when we wish to be right.
Spins us numb
until day turns to night
until stars begin to align.

Love is that normal thing.
Breathing heavy after a long run
palms that sweat
knees that shake.
Squatting the weight of our heavy hearts
pumping the love we crave
signals the brain to a foolish thing
waters the pillow we sleep on.

Love is that serious thing.
Breaks our heart or stitches it together
lets us see or strikes us blind
rip our hair out and tear our eyes apart
lets us walk on water or the Devils ground.
We lose our way back home
to the space we claimed safe.
Sucks the life out of us
revitalize our soul.

Love is that addicted thing
When we come down from it
You'll hate love
until new eyes meet the heart
until new ideas
