The Heart of a Mistress
The mighty current has swept me under.
My heart is shaken by rolling thunder.
No escape for a soul in distress,
the secret heart of a mistress.
A sweeping comfort and hideaway,
shelters my undying faith.
Precious time will soon reveal,
and often my fantasy becomes so real.
A secret little rendezvous,
alone together just me and you.
The heart of a mistress, a long love story,
true as the sun will rise in the morning.
My diary holds no right or wrongs,
where the prince and princess sing love songs.
The heart of a mistress reveals her soul,
of all the memories left untold.
There you are in my photograph,
fond memories of hearing you laugh.
Often do I think of you,
the way you stared at me from across the room,
and how you loved to smell my perfume.
The heart of a mistress often holds,
a long love story seldom told.
