Alan Watts famously said, "By going out of your mind, you come to your senses."

The Heart Knows What The Mind Doesn't

Believing in you is
Being just you, the simplicity of you
Embracing each twist and turn
Stepping outside the confines of your mind
Revealing truths and bringing clarity in chaos
Engaging in the art of the here and now
Changing dark unnecessary innateness
Diving into each brushstroke, swaths of colorways
Letting the moment paint a masterpiece uniquely yours
Freeing up the shackles of the mind
Feeling compassion of heart and soul
Taking a voyage to the center of universal reality~
Shedding many prejudices indelibly embedded in thought
Unmasking anxieties that do not change the world,
serving only to distract causing mental coil
Trusting your instincts is your compass
Off putting, although valuable truth may be
a diamond amidst pebbles
Experiencing every morsel of life’s banquette

I just opened this from my favs and, you know what? I still love it. Except for 2nd to last line, 1st words combined are ... powerful, I guess that's the word I want. While I'm here, thanks for meeting Raja. I want to share I realized why he was so needy. It was 'in our face obvious' (Tim's face, too): a cousin recently came for a long stay & brought her dog. Need I say more? BAD RAJA MAMA. I knew Raja didn't like it, us either. Love my cousin, but it wasn't cool to not ask or warn. CayCay

A 'List" form poem with only those first words brought to mind. HEY - HEY - Wouldn't this fit with theme of Unseeking Seekers latest contest? Doing / being all those things would indeed be 'claim to fame in spiritual terms'. He doesn't care for me so I'm not sure I'll even bother to submit. Food for poems, I mean thought. CayCay

One thousand times and more, I concur, I concur. Individuality has been my thing, of primary importance since adolescence, it's import only equaled by 'authenticity'. To me, the biggest mistake many make is avoiding their emotional pains, not walking into them and thus not growing, not developing their 'pieces' that are of primary importance in our human journeys. Thank you for this poem and thanks to Spirit for leading me here. CayCay (putting in my FAVS)

Anaya, At first I thought it was about another person who would believe in someone. I quickly realized your poem is directed at each of us and the self we maintain. Isn't it funny how poets such as yourself know so much about the mental state of humanity? I think it's because we consider our state carefully and ask ourselves why certain things might bother us. I think you either are or would make an excellent therapist! Anyway, hope you are well. BTW I did like the line about feeling compassion! I've often wondered if several of us should run group therapy on a shared video sight. We might be able to do wonders for people.

You chose the short path and skipped the long version, oh my. I'm digging on spiritualism lately as you can see, it's becoming, maybe some will become enlightened, yes? Ty for your visit, Joe
