The Haiku Corral - Part 2
Dogpatch Haiku Anthem
wailin' blue-tick blues
heard only beyond the ear
struttin' your rooster
in boots just made for
walkin' all over the bull,
pick it up and
use it
or hit the road!
'cause if ya' cain't crow
ya' ain't got bull or zen
death ain't got no sting
like slappin' the bull
spiders no good
unless they're widders of black,
pick it up and
use it
or hit the road!
'cause if ya' cain't crow
ya' ain't got bull or zen
laugh at the moon
mock the tornado
mourn with the riva'
follow the alley cat
of your slinkin' dreams
take your time with mushrooms and
shake with the chill of an unknown fever
preach to shadows
scream at the midday sun
dive into clouds
parachute into mud,
and pick it up
use it or hit the road!
'cause if you cain't crow
ya' ain't got bull or zen
cheat on the test
for a license to drive
yourself crazy
duck when you swear at the mirror
change your mind as often
as your underwear
dream in the sweat lodge of terror
ovah what ya' ain't
make obscene calls to your
local hornet's nest
and don't quibble ovah takin' the outhouse in,
yeah!
and pick it up
use it or hit the road!
'cause if ya' cain't crow
ya' ain't got zen or bull
pop the cork
tip the bottle
wrap your tongue around the ecstasy
jilt the bruises of your fear
make love to the spider
kiss the frog,
yeah!
pick it up and
use it
or hit the road!
'cause if ya' cain't crow
ya' ain't got zen or bull
