The Great Storm Cloud
I have felt the storm cloud’s roll
glimpsed the tempest churn itself.
Watched rivers swell, dikes overflow
by light of lightnings quivering glow,
a bright, forbidding unnatural clef.
Thunder by thunder rumbled aloud.
Yes, I have feared the dark storm cloud.
I’ve born witness to the wind storm's might
I've trembled as the bowing trees.
Gale whipped seas to unmarked height
blinding panic under shuddering fright,
even the sun flees winds like these;
he is a coward, (I too have been)
when face to face with a storm of wind.
I have touched the hurricane’s soul
my blood stirred to a choking clod.
I’ve taken all the storm could throw
torrents of rain and frightful blow,
it’s like touching the tears of God
as His judgment oppressed the proud.
Oh! I have suffered the great storm cloud.
