The Going Green
Sooner now does daylight fade
and with it a summer die,
as green becomes a brighter shade
and for a short time says goodbye.
A welcomed change of pace
to what these eyes have seen,
blazing red and orange replace
the swiftly going green.
Like fire dancing on the limbs
a new breath with each new breeze,
flickering in brights and dims
alighting amongst the trees.
Rekindled life flows in their veins
as another season takes it's rest,
and shaken off the summer rains
prepares for fall, a temporary guest.
Waving leaves do remember when
knowing this farewell is not forever,
the going green comes back again
after the most beautiful autumn ever.
