The Girl With the Crooked Smile.
The girl with the crooked smile; I knew her for a short time;
I was a boxer back then; sparring with shadows;
Always up on my toes and dancing in circles.
These days life is more like a rock skipping across a pond.
Thrown by a lover hoping somehow she is being entertained;
And where the stone finally ends up is anybody’s guess.
Life—who knew huh? I never knew it could do what it did.
I ventured many miles for so many years; hoping the day might come;
It never did and that crooked smile has never been far from my mind.
