The Gifts
She sees a valley full of light
as flowers fill the dale.
She views the vistas, bursting bright,
through eyes without their veil.
He breathes with ease the mountain bliss,
inhaling Heaven's grace.
His miner’s lungs had been amiss
now vigor fills the space.
And I shall bring you flowers though
they never will atone
for giving me the strength so
I may stand beside your stone.
The broadest streams I will contest
and chance the highest hills,
and as your heart beats in my chest
my stamina refills.
Although you lie beneath this earth,
her soul sees through your eyes
and scented breaths of mountain mirth,
he draws from azure skies.
This gifted heart replaced the beats
of one so misaligned,
your blessed act of love completes
the lives you've left behind.
