The Ghazal Collaboration-True Love

"This was fun collaborating with my wife Wendy. We each took turns writing a stanza. Together we wrote 12 stanzas - each with 16 syllables" ~The Poets~ Unarguable power of desire drew me to your true love. I thought it was merely lust now I dedicate it to true love. When skies were grey and winter winds chilled and the cold was hard to bear. It took the thought of you to warm me with your soft, tender true love. In our youth love did blossom so, as I remember days gone by. Joyous times, laughter and frivolity, then such carefree true love. Mornings you would tirelessly brush my long wavy hair with such care. Then lay me down, mess it all up, with our hot passionate true love. Intrinsic time has advanced down pathways unknown, and the bell tolled. Unhindered yearning smoothly burning to a threshold of true love. Tribulations ran deep almost to despair, I knew you were there. Emotions too hot to handle, faded what we called pure true love. All romance diminished, thought we were finished, and you looked elsewhere. Were lonely souls to reunite, or was there a cost for true love? Disillusioned with intent, no longer content with just caring. Intangible the thought of trying to rejuvenate true love. Forgiveness rebuilt trust and our love became resilient once more. With empathy for each other’s weaknesses, we renewed true love. Age has wearied us, and some years have condemned us quite unhealthy. Life gave us resilience to battle on, overcome with true love. I reminisce about the life we have led, it seems our love grew. Now nothing is as important as you, love abounds, it’s true love. My love these fifty-two years you have given me body and soul. It’s what life is all about, you are my everything, my one true love.
