Notes About The Poem

The Fashion Zebra

The Fashion Zebra

I am a flake.
That is the term for people that do not follow through.
It may not be fair. I have spent my whole life avoiding the title.
I crossed every tee, dotted all the eyes…
and followed rules real, and make believe…
Now. It no longer matters.

I am exactly what you see.
I write about the weather, cooking mushrooms in broth,
the underwater zoo in Williams, along with other various,
worthy subjects of interest to no one.

I carry a phone and often use it as a coaster.
It brings me messages once or twice a month
and does not honestly believe me,
when I say, “your fired”.
Alas, I still have a landline, to find it,
when I am yet, desperate for its call.

I wear pj’s to the market, my bathing suit to the post box.
I paint murals and laugh at the way leaves fall from trees, in patterns.
I am not longing to grow up, get married, have kids, nor put things into order.
I want to splash in pools, taste ice-cream made from green tea and hunt for spiders.
The world is no longer full of boundaries to be broken,
They have been erased.
Completely.
I am free.

ha, do you honestly wear a bathing suit to the post office? Wow, that would cause a stir!! I love the message of this. I remember the days I wore short shorts around town after gym class and my kids were appalled by my doing that. So I am kind of your way too!! (I have seen ice cream made of green tea I think. I bet it's good!)

Yes... worse. My kids need to remember that I am their mother. They can do nothing about it. :) Ann

We all need that, more often than we let our selves surely... Hugs my dear friend. Always tea and cakes at the house. Happy to offer you a nice cup for your day. Hugs. Ann

hehe... that is the best part. At night we hung for scorpions on the back fence. Which is fine. As that is where they belong. Otherwise.. well... never mind. Hugs. Thank you for stopping by. Hugs for your day. Ann

Yes, indeed-y do --- You are free --- and good for you!! Just perfectly penned, once again, Ann. Whatever you put in the coffee this morning, don't change a thing tomorrow. Can't wait to read Monday's freshly brewed verse! Smiles, Gershon

I knew that. I believe we should have tea and cakes one day under the big tree in the back. We will laugh and tell stories and make up poems... hehe... Ann
